Stonehenge
Stonehenge is a prehistoric stone circle, cemetery and archaeological site on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, built in several stages from about 3000 BC, with the central stone settings raised about 2500 BC. Its large sarsens came from the Marlborough Downs about 25 km north, its smaller bluestones from the Preseli Hills of south-west Wales, and the whole layout is aligned on the solstices.
